What an app costs, step by step
The calculator starts with a simple mobile app: the shared base, your client records, the app for iPhone and Android, importing your data and one connected tool. That comes to CHF 16,900 to 22,000. The range covers what we find out in the workshop. The quote pins it down before we start.
- 1. Workshop: what the app needs to do, for whom, and what can wait for a second version.
- 2. Mockups: the main screens, approved with you before the first line of code.
- 3. Database and access: where your data lives, and who logs in, and how.
- 4. Clients and contacts: the records for your clients or your users.
- 5. iPhone and Android app: the screens on the phone, for both systems.
- 6. Importing your data: your current files, imported and checked.
- 7. One connected tool: for example, your accounting software or your calendar.
- 8. Testing: with your real data and the people who will use the app.
- 9. Launch and training: the app live, and your team at ease with it.
Everything we’ll do is written into the quote, and the code is yours at the end.
Mobile app or web app
A web app opens in the browser, on a phone just as on a computer. There’s nothing to download and no app store to get through. Every fix goes live right away. For a team tool, a client portal or bookings, that’s often enough. Expect CHF 8,000 to 16,000 in most cases.
A mobile app, downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, is worth it in other cases. Your customers want to find it in the app stores. They open it every day. Or it has to reach deep into the phone, for things like Bluetooth or location in the background. In the calculator, the mobile module adds CHF 8,000.
We make that call with you during the workshop. You can also start with the web, then add the mobile app once you know people use it.
Publishing on the App Store and Google Play
Publishing is included: we prepare the store listing, the screenshots and the submission, and the Apple and Google accounts are opened in your name.
Before an app goes live, Apple and Google review it and can ask for changes. If it sells subscriptions or digital content, both stores also take a commission on those sales, under their own terms. A web app doesn’t need a store at all.
What changes the development cost
- What the app needs to do: each module has its price in the calculator. A portal for your clients adds CHF 3,000. Bookings and scheduling, CHF 2,000.
- A built-in AI assistant: CHF 1,500.
- The tools to connect: about CHF 600 per tool.
- Different permissions for different people: CHF 800.
- Your existing data: bringing it over costs more if it’s scattered.
After launch
The app runs on a server in your name, chosen with you during the workshop based on the number of users.
Apple and Google update their systems regularly, and an app has to keep up. For fixes, updates and new features, ongoing development costs CHF 800 a month. You can also hand the work over to someone else: the code is yours.
What’s included, and what isn’t
Included: the workshop, the mockups, the development, the testing, the data import set out in the quote, the launch and the training. The code and the data are yours.
Optional: ongoing development after launch, if you want it.
Guarantee: The app is delivered when it does what the quote describes, tested on your real cases.
When another provider is a better fit
A game, an app that controls a medical device, or a service that has to handle hundreds of thousands of users from day one calls for a bigger, specialized team. We’ll tell you so in our very first conversation.
